Buraku Liberation and Human Rights Research Institute aims at eliminating Buraku discrimination and all other forms of discrimination and establishing human rights in society through making researches in history, society, economy, legislation, culture, education and people's activities, and planning and implementing various educational programs, to contribute to an early solution of these human rights problems.

Reality of Buraku Discrimination in Japan History, Situation, Challenge

International Workshop and Symposium of Young Scholars Working on "Present Day Buraku Issues"

Founded in 1968, the Buraku Liberation and Human Rights Research Institute (BLHRRI) has early started international exchanges of information and experiences with various institutions, organizations and individual researchers abroad for the purpose of the solution of Buraku issues from an international perspective. Based on these long-term initiatives taken by us, the BLHRRI believes that it is important to further develop its research efforts with the view of making contributions for the resolution of not only Buraku issues but also other minority issues around the world. For this end, the BLHRRI organized the international workshop and symposium in the summer of 2008 with young researchers who do research works on the themes of Buraku problem and other related issues with the specific purposes listed below. This is the report of these programs.

Offering for Applications to Yasuda Literacy Funds

To support literacy programs in Asia, Buraku Liberation and Human Rights Research Institute now invites applications to Yasuda Literacy Funds for the year 2009 (from April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010) Applications have to be received by us by March 30, 2009. Here are details.

How the BLHRRI Sees the Budget Plans prepared by the Osaka Governor Tohru Hashimoto

On June 5, the Osaka Governor, Tohru Hashimoto, has announced the "Draft Osaka Reconstruction Program" containing the financial reconstruction plans of Osaka Prefecture. The Draft will be examined in the July session of Osaka Prefecture Council which will decide on the final budgets for the year 2008.
